Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming (7567) Review – Best Budget Gamer?

March 10, 2017 by Ian Orford Leave a Comment

pcmag.comIs the Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming (Probably) the best budget gaming laptop your limited money can buy? If you want a great gaming experience and your on a relatively tight budget then your normally going to end up very disappointed.

Unless of course you get your act together and buy Dells new Inspirion 15 7000 (7567). As Mathew Buzzi of PCMAG says, its an amazing deal at the price, with great looks and an above average battery life for the sector.

“An all-metal or premium build was never in the cards for the Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming at this price, but Dell has managed a pleasing design while keeping the cost down.”

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming can play modern titles in full HD, boasts amazing battery life, and is priced very aggressively. It’s difficult to find a better deal in a budget gaming laptop.

Unfortunately, at this price something has to give, and in this case it’s the display. It isn’t poor enough to be a deal breaker, but it’s the only aspect of the system that would give me pause. The 1,920-by-1,080 resolution is a good choice—less expensive than alternatives, but it still looks sharp and games will run smoothest on this hardware at 1080p—but the picture isn’t especially crisp and viewing angles are subpar since it’s a Twisted Nematic (TN) panel rather than an In-Plane Switching (IPS) screen.

Alienware 17 (2016) review – Review – PC Advisor

September 14, 2016 by Leave a Comment

The Alienware 17 is one of the best gaming laptops in the world according to Andrew Williams of PCAdvisor in the UK. This is a huge beast of a machine, with a terrific screen, awesome sound and a price and performance to match.

Pricing goes all the way up to £1650 ( at the time of writing) which means your going to go straight past the $2000 mark in the USA. With the ‘Graphics Amplifier” costing in excess of £250 in the UK, this gaming rig is going to make a huge hole in your wallet.

There is absolutely no doubt that this large notebook will eat any game currently out there and for the foreseeable future but is it worth the extra weight and sheer size compared to some of the excellent 15″ gaming machines out there? Read on…

ByAndrew Williams. If the latest Alienware 17 laptop was a video game character, it’d make the ground shake when it walks. It’d have a million hit points and a weapon so powerful it threatens to unbalance the whole game. But its dialogue would also be incomprehensible to the casual gamer.

This is an almost-perfect laptop for the hardcore crowd. Masses of power, great heat management, a high-quality display and clever ways to turn into a desktop gaming rig make this one of the best gaming laptops in the world.

However, to some the price, weight, bulk and short battery life will push the Alienware 17 to the bottom of their shortlist, below some of the excellent 15-inch gaming laptops we’ve reviewed.

Coupling Dell’s XPS 13 Ultraportable plus 32″ UltraSharp UP3216Q 4K Screen

August 30, 2016 by Ian Orford Leave a Comment

dell xps 13 and 32-inch UltraSharp UP3216Q Monitor review
Ultimate Home Setup? Dell XPS 13 Laptop Plus 32-inch UltraSharp UP3216Q

The Dell XPS 13 Ultraportable has certainly seen some very positive reviews since it’s launch in 2015 and with the late4st iteration sporting up to a 1TB Solid State drive and the Intel’s Skylake plugged into the motherboard it’s certainly worthy of a very serious look as an everyday machine.

The challenge is, of course, is that as good as that 13″ screen is with its ultra-thin bezels it doesn’t have a huge amount of screen real estate.

So how about teaming the little Dell up with the new 4K 32-inch UltraSharp UP3216Q Monitor. That’s got to be a pretty cool combination? Let’s see what Shawn Knight, a veteran work at homer of Techspot has to say. And by the way, if your quick, Dell has told them they can give this killer combination away to one lucky reader!

The Internet has afforded me the ability to work from home for more than 15 years. What’s more, I can work from virtually anywhere so long as I have an Internet connection. As glamorous as it all sounds, working from home can also be stressful due to the amount of self-discipline it requires. Above all else, I’ve found that investing in efficiency pays off which in turn frees up time, the one asset that is both free and priceless.

Dell recently came knocking with one of the most highly regarded 4K monitors on the market, the UltraSharp UP3216Q. Measuring 31.5 inches diagonally with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 @ 60Hz, this display was already high on my list of potential candidates so the timing couldn’t have been better.

We are giving away this Dell bundle (XPS 13 laptop + Ultrasharp 4K monitor.

Dell’s proposition wasn’t simply to review the UltraSharp UP3216Q (although a standalone review is in the works) but rather, evaluate its performance and value as part of a larger package that just so happened to address the one area on my path to optimal productivity that I hadn’t yet mastered: portability.

Dell Latitude 13 7000 Review 2016. Great or just OK?

August 26, 2016 by Leave a Comment

Dell Latitude 13 7000 Review. Good, bad or indifferent? Lets take a look.

When we think about Dell, we think about one of the pioneers of the home based computing revolution. (well certainly for some of us longer in the tooth techies in the LTT Office!). Dell was a company that was at the forefront of supplying budget desktop systems that did the job. After a few years in the doldrums, Dell are back and producing some really good kit.

Laptops like the Latitude 13 7000 which is a high-end notebook with a superb edge to edge 13″ display. What this does in effect is fit a 13″ ultraportable into a 12″ sized system. This is a serious business machine with lots of great security features that the IT department will love and sports a carbon fibre lid for that extra protection. Read the full review by Brett Nuckles at Business News Daily

Dell’s Latitude 13 7000 is the most compact 13-inch business laptop around. The lightweight system sports a striking edge-to-edge display, and its strong security and durability credentials are beneficial for workers. On the other hand, rival systems last longer on a charge and offer faster performance — and they do it for less money than the Latitude 13 7000, which costs $1,743.

The Latitude 13 7000’s most striking feature has to be its 13-inch, edge-to-edge display. The notebook has a razor-thin bezel around the screen, which allowed Dell to fit a 13-inch display into a system about the size of an average 12-incher.

But while the Latitude 13 7000 is small enough to slide easily in and out of your work bag, there are lighter options. Lenovo’s 14-inch ThinkPad X1 Carbon weighs slightly less, at 2.6 lbs., though it’s larger than the Latitude 13. And HP’s EliteBook Folio G1 is the lightest of the bunch, at a featherweight 2.1 lbs., though it has a smaller, 12.5-inch display.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) Review & Rating

June 24, 2016 by Ian Orford Leave a Comment

The words ‘entry level’ and gaming laptops don’t normally go together but Dell seems to have pulled the prize out of the bag with the Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) according Mathew Buzzi of PCMAG. Powerful enough says Buzzi to win the Dell Entry level gaming Laptop the Editors Choice award taking the crwon from another Dell brand, the Alienware 15. The previos winner being close to $450 more expensive doesnt offer enough of a performance increase to justify the big difference in price.

With its strong build, ample storage, and full HD display, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) is an excellent entry-level gaming laptop that delivers better performance than you’d expect for the price.

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) is a gaming laptop that offers solid performance at a very reasonable price (starts at $749.99; $799.99 as tested). This system is powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience on all but the highest settings with its full HD display and discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card, and it can efficiently perform daily work and media tasks when you’re not playing. The Alienware 15, our former Editors’ Choice, is at the very top of the price range for the category, and doesn’t offer a significant enough increase in performance for the price. As such, the Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) is our new Editors’ Choice for entry-level gaming laptops.
